Irrfan Khan’s death was untimely and he passed away too soon at 53, some of us are yet to watch his movies and his roles on amazing films like Piku, Paan Singh Tomar, etc. Being unwell for a long, he was hospitalized earlier this week for colon infection. Irrfan Khan will stay forever in our hearts.

Irrfan was also India’s face in the west. He was diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor in 2018, he had just lost his mother in Jaipur 3 days ago. He was being treated in the ICU of the Kokibalen Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

  1. He was born into a royal family – Muslim Pathan on 7th January 1967 in Jaipur. Irrfan’s father ran a tire business.

  2. His real name is Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan.

  3. Getting into films was not his plan, he wanted to pursue cricket, but his parents didn’t like the idea. He got a scholarship at the National School of Drama and then tried to make a career in acting. After his MA, he got a diploma in Dramatic Arts from NSD.

  4. His first job was as an air conditioner repairman. His first house is said to be of Rajesh Khanna’s.

  5. His debut movie was Salaam Bombay which was 1988 Academy Award Nominee. He was in his final year in NSD but his role was shortened as he was tall.

  6. He got married to a fellow NSD student Sutapa Sikdar on February 23, 1995. He also has two sons, Babil and Ayan.

  7. He wanted to quit acting as his career was getting monotonous but acting in The Warrior made by Asif Kapadia, made him continue on his acting endeavors.

  8. The Warrior was actually his breakout movie. The movie opened in international film festivals and he became a well-known face.

  9. He added an extra R in Irrfan by changing his name in 2012, only because he liked the sound of it.

  10. He turned down Interstellar by Christopher Nolan for his other two projects Lunchbox and D Day.
